Nottingham Forest beat Aston Villa 2-1 at Villa Park as Igor Jesus scored the late winner after Liam Delap opened the scoring with a 25-yard strike. Delap registered his first Forest goal when he jinked past Ross Barkley before firing an unerring right-foot shot past the goalkeeper early in the second half. Villa were levelled when Alysson headed home from John McGinn’s short-corner delivery. Igor Jesus finished a slick move that began with Daniel Muñoz and featured Morgan Gibbs-White’s backheel to restore Forest’s lead. Villa finished the match with 10 men for the final 12 minutes after Ian Maatsen was injured following a foul by James McAtee, a challenge Unai Emery called a clear red and said VAR should have flagged. Pau Torres left the game with a hamstring problem that could sideline him for about a month, and Villa remain without a win in their opening four Premier League matches.
