DHS watchdog finds detainees held in tiny outdoor cages at 'Alligator Alcatraz'
everyone involved with alligator alcatraz at every level - its creation, its construction, its staffing - needs to go to jail
important info here: it's likely a lot worse than this
At a bare minimum they need to make The Nuremberg Trials look like middle school detention, or everyone involved is getting off too easy.
I still can't believe that's the actual factual name they went with and we still have to fight to call them what they are.
even the people that made the shitty merch
Also, this is a lie to make them look less bad. bsky.app/profile/gill...
Got just the place for it, too.....
I recall these cages being reported a year ago by a trans migrant held in one and the story was dismissed s being too sensational and unrealistic.
Nuremberg 2.0 is the moderate position
Then do the one in Tacoma, WA
@attackerman.bsky.social reported on the Amnesty report at the time, and astutely compared it to the torture boxes at Gitmo, where Ron DeSantis, as a young military lawyer, oversaw the torture. So once again, mainstream media is months behind independent media. www.forever-wars.com/torture-tech...
One of the incredible ironies of this era is that the journalists with the least resources to fight malicious prosecution by the gov't are the ones telling the most truth about the camps. And the ones with the most resources and teams of lawyers on staff...are not.
These look like the torture boxes used throughout the slave states and colonies, but especially in the Caribbean, to punish enslaved people. They'd put you in the hole and deprive you of light, human interaction, basic needs, even the ability to stand or stretch out completely, until you went mad
I wish I didn’t read that report but that said I wish everyone in America read that report
THEY ARE INMIGRANTS, NOT CRIMINALS WTF
"Amnesty Int'l interviewed detainees who said the cage was half this size (couldn't stand up), had no awning, w feet chained to the bottom EIGHT MONTHS AGO. Glad folks are appalled by photos of the "phone booth" cage under an awning, but pls understand: This IG report is likely part of a cover-up."
latest scandal, which I'm of course writing up for @trumpfile.org, includes ICE staff calling torture boxes "calming areas" I've give real money if fascists would just stop with Orwellian euphemisms already
To all the "conservatives" who were hoping that DeSantis was better than Trump. He is not. He absolutely is not.
Someone should've said something about, in the absence of accountability, the very next Republican president after Bush just picking up where W left off and doing the same and worse. That would've been recognized as prescient and cool and totally worth a lot of money or something.
Again, worse than they are admitting to.
@frodehommedal.bsky.social And another one—remember all the Alligator Alcatraz merch and the gloating from ordinary “Good Americans”—the same GOP we’re supposed to coddle and care about their feelings!
This is *exactly* the medieval torture known as “Little Ease”
Reminder: ♦️Not ONE person has been held criminally accountable for the US government's multi-year program of torture-- at Gitmo, at Abu Ghraib, and at "black sites" throughout the world. Not. One.
Except that the cages weren't all tall enough to stand up in. 🤬 bsky.app/profile/gill...
#FascistAmerica update: Check out this thread. There may be a cover-up going on regarding the use of the “little ease” torture box (google it..) at Aligator Alcatraz. The use of it in itself is horrible. A potential attempted cover-up is in a way good. It means it is not entirely normalized.
"Facility staff said detainees were not locked in the enclosures, but federal investigators found locking mechanisms on them..." www.nytimes.com/2026/09/14/u...
I never thought the U.S. would repeat the history of the Japanese internments & Nazi death camps. They may not have erected ovens, but too many lost their lives in the jails & those sent back to countries from which they escaped & being killed there. SHAME!
Please what happens to those immigrants that get sent to Africa and other places that are not their home.
The first American concentration camp of this century
At the Federal prison where I was held, we were ALL locked in an unairconditioned basement dorm room because one woman dared to sleep without a bra on because it was 120+degrees which was “against uniform policy.” I guess my point is dangerous, illegal treatment is standard, not an anomaly.
I am SO FVCKING SICK of this evil dystopian hellscape brought to us by Felon Trump and his criminal toadies and enablers. The entire situation has been out of control for a decade now. There are people in Congress who could STOP THE MADNESS. Yet here we all are. In HELL. 🤬
I called it a concentration camp.. cbwrong.blogspot.com/2026/09/if-i...
The truth is finally coming out. This is exactly what we were warning about while “Alligator Alcatraz” was still open and MAGA dismissed it. A new report from the Department of Homeland Security’s inspector general confirms that immigrants detained at the
now-shuttered Florida facility were confined in outdoor cages only slightly larger than telephone booths. This is the first time a federal government watchdog has officially confirmed the existence of those cramped cages.
How many innocent people who were held at the “Alligator Alcatraz” concentration camp are missing? They are disappearing many thousands of folks.
Now when are we holding them accountable for exactly what we knew was happening AND for lying to us about it?
The answer is simple Crimes Against Humanity In the name of citizens of USA
My heart goes out to those abused people; utter, utter cruelty.
These are grotesque findings (confirmations) about ICE and the corrupt regime that is the State Government of Florida. They wanted to do all this. They wanted to be cruel to people they consider subhuman. It’s a replay of how and why Nazis Germany branded Jews as vermin to justify their inhumanity.
The OIG finds that each person detained at Alligator Alcatraz was in cells offering just 28 square feet per detainee, less than half than the 75 required. People could only leave their cells a few times per day, and were only allowed showers 3 times per week.
Next, the OIG says that people held in segregation were locked in tiny individual metal cages inside a building, held with no TV, no reading materials, no law library, no recreation, and no access to phones to call their lawyers. All of this wildly violated ICE standards.
I hope this OIG doesn't get fired.
To put this in perspective, a calf keeper pen is 36 square feet. They're used for tiny baby calves still being bottle fed. Very small space indeed.
Ron needs to see what cruelty for cruelties sake feels like
But don't you dare call them Concentration Camps! Right Rapepublicans?
This is all horrific abuse and the fact that they were cheerily merchandising this hellhole should double sentences handed down for it
"the free state of florida"
I know this is a minor detail in the grand scale, and maybe just tinfoil hat speculation, but something about that floor screams grift. Torture cages but a house flipper floor? There’s a MAGA company getting a massively overpaid contract there I feel it.
ONLY ALLOWED SHOWERS Three times a week. Intentionally. These are concentration camps and you're underreacting
fuck this admin and everybody who still supports it
Abolish (remove the legal cover for) this ~20 year old agency. Liberate the remaining camps.
