Bird of the Day, theme 'Silhouette'

Today's Bird of the Day theme is Silhouette, with an alternate theme of Finches. Contributors are sharing backlit, sunset, and high-contrast profiles of birds in song, flight, or perched on branches alongside close-up finch portraits. Look for a Tufted Duck heading home across a lake at sunset, a row of silhouetted Snow Geese at dusk, and finch entries like a rose-breasted grosbeak cracking a sunflower seed and a Greenfinch garden visitor. Other notable silhouettes include a sandhill crane in flight and a great egret perched on a dead tree, giving strong graphic shapes against sky and water.
