Today's Bird of the Day theme is Silhouette, with an alternate theme of Finches set by Atlantic Birding. Contributors are sharing high-contrast, backlit scenes at sunrise and sunset that reduce subjects to shape and posture, emphasizing shorebirds, raptors, corvids, seabirds, and garden songbirds. Concrete examples in the gallery include a curlew on the moors photographed at dusk, a pelican skimming the Gulf of Mexico at sunset, and a male Hawfinch highlighted as the chosen finch. You see a canal that for a part is clear from the tick brow/green algue. At the end of the canal it is still there. The many gulls in the sky are backlight by the setting sun. They are feeding on the many tiny dead fish in the water. The trees on the left are still green.
