Brisbane Lions defeated Hawthorn 20.11 (131) to 19.8 (122) to reach the AFL Grand Final and will face the Fremantle Dockers next Saturday, 26 September, as they chase a three-peat. Conor McKenna scored a crucial first-quarter goal to put Brisbane 32-30 ahead and finished with 19 disposals and 13 kicks, The42.ie reported. Brisbane led 97-77 at three-quarter time before Hawthorn stormed back in the fourth, with Nick Watson kicking six goals and briefly giving the Hawks a three-point lead. The sides traded the lead late and Brisbane sealed the win with two late goals from Hugh McCluggage and Kai Lohmann. One report said a controversial free kick late in the fourth quarter proved pivotal in the Lions' victory. The result sets up Fremantle versus Brisbane in next Saturday's Grand Final, with Brisbane aiming for a third straight premiership.
