Judge sets deadline in Katie Phang Epstein records case

Judge Emmet Sullivan gave Attorney General Todd Blanche until September 24, 2026, to produce unredacted Epstein-related files or explain noncompliance, warning that failure to meet the deadline could trigger a civil contempt finding in the transparency lawsuit brought by journalist Katie Phang. The order requires Blanche to provide the documents for in camera review so Sullivan can decide what, if any, material should be released to Phang. Blanche has asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to pause the judge’s orders while he seeks relief. Phang and her legal team have continued public updates about the case and pressed for full disclosure; Raw Story and other outlets criticized Blanche’s delays and called his handling of the orders “egregious.” The deadline follows earlier partial submissions of files to the court and comes amid ongoing public and media scrutiny of the Epstein records and how the Justice Department has handled them.
