Nvidia CEO says he doesn't remember his phone number or ZIP code

It's hilarious that Huang things not knowing his address, zip-code and phone number are a mark of how he is cognitively off-loading to technology and Klein doesn't seem to press him that what he's actually obviously doing is using the fact that he's rich to off-load onto other humans.

I have, to be fair, forgotten my zip code, just briefly. But I managed to nail it w/o checking the other day to cast my vote.

Hate to give Ezra Klein credit but getting Jensen Huang to admit he hasn't known his ZIP CODE in years and that kids don't need to know basic math is some incredible content.

Plus, I don't know how he goes through life without knowing his address, much less his phone number. "I tried to pump gas and didn't know my zip code." All this tells me is that you never pump your own gas.

"The CEO of the most valuable company in the world doesn't know his ZIP code" is a bridge too far for this season's writers.

This says a lot about billionaire mentality. He doesn't need to know his address or zip code because he has a whole team of secretaries, drivers, maids/butlers, and assistants who DO. Does he really think the average person can just forget stuff like this and it doesn't matter?

Lemme explain why Jensen Huang said he doesn't know his address and thus struggled at a gas pump to use a credit card which required a zip code! If you have multiple homes and a team of assistants, it's *hard* to remember where your credit card statement (and thus zip code) goes to. Oh... u poor?

You should be embarrassed if you don't know your zip code as an adult.

I’d say that your home address and ZIP code are not exactly in the “fine intellectual dexterity” category. But beyond that, I think Huang is fundamentally wrong about his assumption that you can get “systems thinking” without a command of the details. Details are the building blocks of the systems!

Not knowing your own zip code or address is a class marker. It says “I can pay someone to manage my household affairs.” It says basically nothing in any direction about how to think about AI.

What I imagine when someone says “I’m a systems thinker” but doesn’t know their own phone number and zip code

Not sympathetic to the argument (even if I literally could not remember my telephone number or zip code for years). You can look that stuff up, you can’t just look up math or reading and still understand it.
