Recruiter Asks if Bringing Iced Coffee to Job Interviews Is OK
If we promise not to bring an iced coffee into a job interview, will you promise to pay us a living wage?
Best I can do is off brand k-cups in the break room while you give up your soul for minimum wage.
I'd bring my bong instead.
"If you can still afford an iced coffee I'm afraid you may not fit in with the other underpaid, overworked employees".
Or stop laying us off! bsky.app/profile/midd...
Fuck these motherfuckers. I’m lucky to have a job. But I want to apply to jobs now just so I can enjoy Snackables and a Bud Light in the interviews.
You wouldn’t NEED a living wage if you’d stop blowing your money on iced coffee and avocado toast and started spending it on bootstraps! Why, when I was your age…
you shouldn't take an iced coffee to a job interview because you shouldn't be trying to get a job. you should be digging an enormous pit or a complex system of tunnels
“Don’t talk to me until after I have dug my rabbit warren of hidey holes and you have found me crushed beneath the weight of my own subterranean hubris.”
coffee is very good if you have a lot of digging to do
finally, someone brave enough to say the truth
but i need money to buy the land, and the shovels, and the concrete
Dwarf Coded, now we know why one of your sons dreams of nothing but tunnels
You know of Kala the tunnel lady right?
how i walk out of a job interview after leaving my empty iced coffee on your desk
It would’ve been pretty funny if someone walked by and slid a lit cigarette between his fingers
This is just elder abuse
did he just give us the british two finger salute?
Im looking for some edibles that leave me Mitch McConnell level of functional
It’s amazing what they can do with modern puppetry.
Mitch really into the peace sign these days. I like how he flips his fingers around immediately, and they stay there, as he stares at them trying to remember what he is doing.
There is clearly not a single person that loves him.
“We’ll be back in two and two.”
When you’re trying to wave good-bye but can’t remember how many fingers to hold up.
Why is this the funniest peace out I’ve seen in a while?! Maybe because it’s a corpse doing it but I can’t stop giggling
how i walk out of a job interview after leaving my empty iced coffee on your desk
Until a few months ago, I used to feel how Mitch looks leaving any interview. I get so nervous that my memory erases as soon as I leave the room. I have no idea how I did, and I’ll be lucky to remember any of what we discussed at a later date. My boyfriend knows I got it, though. Bless him.
I’ve watched this 20 times in loop. It truly boggles my mind in a hundred different ways, yet it’s also funny
I would *never* drink iced coffee at a job interview. That is so lame—when you could be lining up shots of tequila!
Sorta like taking a bong to an interview at a medical marijuana store. But who knows? It might work.
In my days, employers brought you your favorite kind of coffee when you interviewed. What in the abysmal dysfunction is happening?
I had an interview where I had to tell the person interviewing me that they were asking illegal questions. Enjoy your iced coffee.
I once secured a job in 2007 when they asked if I had programming experience and I answered “no, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.” Excuse my age ..
🤔 Careful I hear if you say Tequila! three times. Guillermo Rodriguez appears 🤣
“Thanks for the interview, but we’re not doing the question and answer thing. I brought the bottle. Line ‘em up. We go as long as it takes. You fall over first, I’m hired at the pay I want. You go down and I’m outta here.”
You, weak, bringing an iced coffee to an interview Me, strong, answering the first question right as the beat kicks in and singing “it’s time for the percolator”
I’m sorry, but if you bring an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, I will shoot you in the face. I will shoot you dead in your fucking face.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you’re drinking liquids you’ve destroyed your root chakra and it’s already over for you
I was willing to do a suicide by Patrick anyway.
Wait a minute, what if it's a bottle of your own piss? Surely, an exception here....
I didn't bring a coffee to my interview, my mom brought a coffee to my interview
Oh thank gob, the sweet release of death.
sorry but we are NOT doing a second round of the inane “iced coffee at a job interview” discourse. please adjust your posting schedule accordingly
The post below this in my TL, heh.
Well, obviously. It's fall now, so it's pumpkin spice latte at a job interview discourse time.
What if we missed the first round??
Local man yells at tide
iced coffee: i take pride in what i do, delivering energy to people without loading them up on calories chotiner: and the pumps? three pumps? iced coffee: listen
NIXON: Iced coffee. Disgusting beverage. Fella didn’t even wear a [expletive] suit. HALDEMAN: [inaudible] NIXON: they’re crisis actors too
did anyone take the iced-coffee-unprofessional, hot-coffee-professional lane yet on the interview thing?
yeah i def saw those lol which feels v Gender if youre going to have this hangup about a type of coffee
iced coffee is professional, because you drink it with a discreet straw, and hot coffee is unprofessional, because you pour it all over the conference table and then lap it up like an animal
I would simply perform a tea ceremony during the interview and get the interviewer's position
Isn’t that the gender take?
Nursing an espresso in a ceramic cup with a saucer for the entire interview. It’s never clear where it came from
yeah, at least a bit
The only job interview I’ve ever had I called in from a pay phone booth at a bus station in New Zealand so I honestly don’t have much of an opinion on the iced coffee thing.
you called? this is an obvious example of privilege that you could even call. you have hobbit feet? in New zealand?
I haven't had an interview since 2019.
It’s funny, I never know where these ridiculous conversations start.
I had a job interview a couple years ago. I had a bottle of water with me, because I go almost nowhere without one. I'm pretty sure one of the people who interviewed me had an iced coffee. I didn't get the job, but they contacted me a couple months later to ask me if I was still interested.
i'm sorry, but if you tell me during the culture fit that you would disqualify a candidate for bringing an iced coffee - or any damn beverage at all - to a job interview, you're disqualified. it's not hard, people.
adding this to my culture fit interview questions, because apparently this is something you have to filter for...
"I'm not hiring you cause you brought a drink" is the kind of excuse you come up with when you don't actually intend to hire anyone but had to post fake job listings and put on interviews to silence your employees and maintain your stock price.
I have a doctor's note allowing me to bring a bottle of water and a snack into any academic test I take. Go ahead and tell me I'm not a suitable job candidate because of my bottle of water. Go ahead, I dare you. 😁.
exactlyyy. like I know it's realistic that some hiring managers will do that. I don't want to work for them!
I don't even drink coffee, but I kinda want to bring an iced coffee to interviews now just to see what happens. (Alas, I am not desirable enough in the industry to pull off lasting change because of it. Also also, this reminds me that I should probably look at some job listings today...)
They just need a bullshit reason to gatekeep.
My reaction to the whole iced coffee Discourse: can you imagine giving a fuck if someone brought themselves a beverage?
Unless they are currently throwing it at me, I do not care what you are drinking. ever.
so listen here's the thing: what if it's extremely clear that they don't have any taste? like what if their order is just disgusting, like, self-harm levels of bad?
I feel like we need a beverage judgement bracket
As soon as I heard "as a recruiter" I was like WHOAH there, YOU don't set company culture, and I BET people you recruit FOR bring iced coffees into work. 🙄
I've shown up to an interview (not taking it; being part of the technical reviewer of the applicant's skills) with a Red Bull and a pot of tea. I don't mean separate interviews there. I had a 12 oz Red Bull and 24 ounces of tea.
Yeah, but how do they feel about pineapple on pizza?
