The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Putnam County through 2 p.m. Sunday and warned the worst local flooding will occur at high tide on Saturday morning; Cold Spring officials said a full moon increases the likelihood the Hudson will breach its riverfront banks. Cold Spring restricted parking on Market Street to preserve an alternate evacuation route if West Street floods, made sandbagging material available at the rear of the Fair Street municipal lot next to the Riverview Restaurant, set up pumps on Main Street and cleared pinch points along Back Brook. The local forecast shows a steady Saturday temperature near 56 degrees, north winds 18 to 20 mph with gusts to 34 mph, and a 70 percent chance of precipitation; Sunday and Monday both carry 90 percent precipitation chances and northeast winds of 17 to 22 mph. Hudson Valley Shakespeare canceled its 1:30 p.m. Saturday matinee of Les Misérables and will announce the status of evening and Sunday performances by noon each day; the Kids’ Fishing Derby at the Garrison Fish & Game Club was postponed. State officials said coastal flooding is the primary concern, with waves possibly reaching 22 feet along eastern Long Island, wind gusts up to 60 mph and 5,675 response workers staged statewide, including 175 overhead contractors hired by Con Edison.
