Former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem filed for divorce from her husband Bryon Noem in Hamlin County, South Dakota, on April 6, court records show; the records were posted online on Sept. 28. The filing lists the marriage, which began May 23, 1992, as ending because of "irreconcilable differences." Noem's lawyer Michael Sabers confirmed the split in an emailed statement and said she will "reserve any further comments for the legal process." The filing follows tabloid reporting earlier this year in which the Daily Mail published messages, audio and photos alleging Bryon Noem cross-dressed and paid adult entertainers; a spokesperson told the New York Post Kristi Noem was "devastated" by those reports. Bryon Noem's legal representatives did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment. The couple has three children, Kassidy, Kennedy and Booker, and Bryon Noem works in the insurance industry after earning a business finance degree from Northern State University and previously coaching basketball and working on the family farm. Noem was removed from her role as Homeland Security secretary on March 5 after Operation Metro Surge and was later named special envoy to the Shield of the Americas initiative.
