Food industry hires influencers to push back on MAGA‑backed policy moves

The Guardian and Documented report that several large US food and agriculture corporations are funding a campaign run by the industry-funded Center for Food Integrity called Gaha, which pays social media influencers to counter elements of Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s Make America Healthy Again movement. Gaha officially launched late last year and, according to a February CFI report, at least six influencers have posted sponsored content reaching more than 2.6 million viewers on blogs, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram. Internal documents show Gaha is tracking Maha closely and targeting talking points on seed oils, pesticides, high-fructose corn syrup, regenerative agriculture, organic farming, raw milk and “big ag.” A July 2025 training video instructs partners to create an “echo chamber” among industry groups and align behind “the same ultimate message.” The reporting notes RFK Jr’s rise to a putative Health and Human Services role has boosted Maha’s profile, with a KFF poll from May 2026 finding about 40% of US adults say they support Maha themes and majorities saying there is insufficient regulation of pesticides (64%) and chemical food additives (75%). The documents and CFI materials show the industry effort aims to rebuild trust and blunt cross-partisan pressure in Washington that companies view as a threat to their bottom line, even as the Trump administration has largely stopped short of enacting new regulations.
