A gender‑bent Draco Malfoy fan art trend labeled "Malfoid" has drawn sharp criticism after users pointed out that "foid" is short for "femoid," an incel misogynistic slur. Artists posting or planning Malfoid pieces have been added to a circulated blocklist and some creators are being asked when they will draw or repost the trend. Critics say the name explicitly carries misogynistic and incel connotations and ties the trend to 4chan‑style backwash and AI anime imagery, while other posters defend the art as trolling or a way to rile the creator of the original works. Some commentators also argue the trend risks reviving support for the Harry Potter franchise and erasing earlier efforts to distance fandom from the creator. The dispute has prompted followers to consider confronting or unfollowing artists and led at least one creator to post related work behind a paid page.
