A Russian strike hit Kyiv's Northern Bridge on the morning of October 3, damaging the road surface and trolleybus overhead wires and blocking traffic from the left bank to the right bank, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. Klitschko wrote that emergency services were on their way and that traffic across the span was currently blocked. The attack follows repeated drone strikes on the Southern Bridge on October 1 and 2, which forced suspension of metro and car travel across that crossing. Kyiv officials say the Northern and Southern bridges link the eastern and western parts of the capital and had not been hit before Thursday, a development city leaders warn signals a new stage in Moscow's targeting of critical infrastructure. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian President Vladimir Putin had decided there were "no rules now" when attacking Ukraine, and he accused Russia of seeking to destroy bridges, data centres, communications, hospitals, schools and other civilian infrastructure.
