Tom Morello promotes new album and Power to the People festival

musicOct 4, 202631517

Tom Morello released Everyone Gets Everything They Want, his heaviest record in years, and in October staged the all-star pre-midterms Power to the People festival shortly after the album’s release. The record stretches into his singer-songwriter side and even features him rapping on the track "Soldier in the Army of Love," with guest appearances from Serj Tankian, Irish rap trio Kneecap, and Morello’s 15-year-old son Roman. Morello opened 2026 with a protest concert in Minneapolis and in March joined Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band onstage for an anti-Trump tour. In interviews Morello framed the album and festival as political interventions, saying if it behaves like fascism it is fascism and urging cultural resistance. At Power to the People Serj Tankian joined Morello to play the Rage-ish single "Adjourn It" and, according to JOLT, they dedicated an Audioslave cover of "Like a Stone" to Chris Cornell. Morello called the new record a statement of the full range of his artistry and said it may be his last record before more severe political crackdowns, framing the festival as action at a historical crossroads for American democracy.
