Padres place Mason Miller on postseason paternity list, out for Game 3

The San Diego Padres placed closer Mason Miller on the postseason paternity list, making him unavailable for Tuesday's pivotal NLDS Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers. MLB Communications confirmed the league approved the paternity-list placement and announced Miller would be allowed to be away from the club. Miller, who was tied for third in MLB with 38 saves this season, will be replaced on the active NLDS roster by pitcher Wandy Peralta during his absence. The decision removes San Diego's primary late-inning option for an elimination game and forces manager adjustments to the bullpen matchup plan for Game 3.
