Elon Musk’s PAC sent misleading voter texts in Colorado, officials say

Election officials in Colorado say texts from Elon Musk’s super PAC, America PAC, told recipients “Your ballot request is in” and asked them to “Confirm now where and when to return it,” prompting a flurry of calls and emails to county offices. Colorado law gives every active registered voter an automatic mail ballot, so the message misrepresented Colorado voting procedures, county election chief Carly Koppes said voters asked whether someone had submitted a request on their behalf. Officials in Colorado and Washington issued public warnings about inaccurate information tied to the group, and America PAC responded on X by accusing Washington officials of trying to “suppress” voter registration. The outreach is part of a large ground campaign: America PAC has reported nearly $40 million in independent expenditures this cycle and Elon Musk has disclosed roughly $50 million to America PAC plus about $40 million to other Republican-aligned super PACs. Election officials and county offices handled increased voter inquiries after the texts, and federal filings show America PAC’s spending is concentrated on Senate contests and digital outreach aimed at mobilizing Republican turnout.
