Frame grabs from Super Mario Bros. Super Show episode circulate

Frame grabs from Season 1 Episode 10, "Two Plumbers and a Baby," of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! have been circulating, with people zeroing in on crisp moments of Mario and the show’s 80s-era visuals. One post flagged a late-night "Penance Stream 2026" screening of a Super Mario Bros. Special, while another commenter noted they watched a version with JP voices and missed a short Super Mario clip. The thread threaded nostalgia for DiC-era cartoons alongside close looks at specific episode details and character appearances.

Saturday October 10th, 2026, 7:00 PM Eastern Time @supergreatfriend.bsky.social suffers through Super Mario Bros. Special! It's the Penance Stream 2026, all night long! Suffer with SGF at www.twitch.tv/supergreatfr... Mario has such sights to show you.

A stylized 3D render depicting Supergreatfriend as a man in a white button-down shirt and dark slacks with a red TV head with glowing green dots forming his cartoon face. He looks angry or irritated as he crouches on a floating Super Mario Question Mark Block holding an Xbox controller in his hands. He is in a twisted version of Super Mario Bros in which all the colors are wrong and everyone looks sinister. The red and yellow question block glows, lighting him from below. Across from Supergreatfriend, Mario stands on a ledge made of red and yellow stone. Mario is giant sized. His face and overalls are a yellow and red checkerboard pattern, a high resolution interpretation of Super Mario Bros Special's garish primary color scheme. Mario is smiling, baring sharp teeth covered in black stains. The whites of Mario's eyes are black and his irises glow red. He wears yellow gloves covered in either black veins or fungus. Mario holds his arms open in welcome. Behind him, a large pipe made of rusty golden metal with a black checkerboard pattern reflects light onto Mario's back. Next to SGF a floating rectangle of red bricks extends away from him. An angry red and yellow Goomba with glowing red eyes stands on the edge of the platform, glaring at SGF. Behind and above SGF is another brick platform. A Koopa with red and yellow checkerboard skin leans over the ledge on all fours to glare down at SGF with glowing red eyes. All around them are yellow pixelated clouds from the game extending upward into infinity. Mario speaks with yellow voice bubble: "It's-a me, M--" SGF cuts him off: "No you're not!" SGF's voice bubble continues: "Everything about this place looks...and feels...WRONG." Mario responds with black voice bubble and distorted text: "WRONG?" Mario's voice bubble returns to normal: "Mama mia, no!" His voice bubble shifts back to black and demonic: "SPECIAL!" Mario continues: "And if you can't beat my game, we'll make you SPECIAL, too!"
