The Detroit Red Wings and Alex DeBrincat agreed to a seven-year contract extension worth about $90 million, a roughly $13 million average annual value, a deal that will keep DeBrincat in Detroit through 2034. The announcement came the same night DeBrincat scored twice as Detroit rallied before losing 5-4 in overtime to the New Jersey Devils; Jack Hughes scored the overtime winner. PuckPedia’s posted breakdown shows the contract beginning in 2027, 28 and running through 2033, 34 with a full no-trade clause in years 1 through 4, a 10-team trade list in year 5, an 18-team modified no-trade clause in year 6, and a 13-team modified no-trade clause in year 7. Reports framed the total as roughly $90 million to $91 million depending on rounding. Detroit signed the extension amid offseason roster uncertainty that included Dylan Larkin’s trade request and defenseman Simon Edvinsson remaining unsigned. The pact locks in one of Detroit’s primary scorers as the team heads into upcoming contract and roster decisions.
