DeKalon Taylor broke a long score drought with an 18-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter that put Colorado ahead 14-13 against No. 11 Utah. The score was Taylor’s first touchdown since early last season, a play he called “long awaited.” Colorado’s previous touchdown came on a 68-yard catch by JaQuail Smith, and Smith leads the Buffaloes with 259 rushing yards this season. Taylor, a 5-foot-9, 165-pound fifth-year, has 85 rushing yards, 89 receiving yards, and 127 return yards so far for Colorado. Micah Welch, who has 220 rushing yards and two touchdowns, was ruled unavailable on Wednesday’s injury report. Taylor also caught a 14-yard third-down pass late in the fourth to move the chains on Colorado’s final touchdown drive. The game ended in a 27-24 loss, Colorado’s fourth straight, and head coach Deion Sanders told the team he was proud of how hard they played.
