Personalized mRNA melanoma vaccine cuts recurrence risk in trial
Enormous news. A melanoma vaccine, one of the most deadly cancers out there. Science is good and helpful and there should be more of it. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2026/...
When I was an intern (99), we snickered at our attending who was working on medical therapy for melanoma, because there was nothing that worked. That laugh was on us, bc fast forward to today, when there is very effective therapy, and this vaccine is on top of that. I just love science sometimes
A lot of people are getting confused by it being a vaccine, but this is a treatment, not a preventative. (It's a great treatment and this is still huge news! But the answer to "where can I get my shot" is "your oncologist's office, if you get melanoma.")
Im getting melanoma surgery in 2 weeks🫠
This is exciting! my sil died from this rip Cindy🕯️
I have ovarian clear cell which is hard to treat but there is a trial out there for my cancer using mRNA and we need more funding and this stupid anti mRNA lie to go away so that we can have an attempt at a life lengthening treatment.
This is the kind of research Moderna had been working on when COVID showed up. They had the toolset and applied to diseases. They’re just now getting back to targeting your personal cancer given a biopsy.
There’s details in this that are notable, but overall absolutely amazing. I imagine most of us will eventually know someone who’s life was saved because of this. Star Trek level technology here.
Was für ein Erfolg! 💪🏻 Überall Erfolge bei der Individualmedizin. Nur doof, dass man jetzt überall an der Prävention sparen will 🤔
Holy shit. I had a coworker who died of melanoma. Was in his late 30s with young kids. This could be so huge
Some actual good news for the day!! I was lucky to catch my melanoma at stage 2 as it was handily visible on my forearm, but so many others aren't. AoNZ has the highest rates in the world due to our location, lack of prevention priority and she'll be right attitude. Thus will be a game changer.
This is 100% a bfd (especially for archaeologists who spend a tin of time outside!)... but also why does the moderna sign in this photo look like it's got tesco branding??
I don't know what to make of the fact we're entering the era of increasing evidence of effective cancer vaccines at a time of increasing vaccine skepticism
🧪 Once again, vaccines are amazing! I have no doubt anti-vax will end up in the dustbin of history, viewed as the modern equivalent of tobacco smoke enemas (once thought to revive drowning victims in the 1700s). Absolute lunacy in the face of actual miracles. #MedSky 🛟
„In meinen Körper kommt keine mRNA.“ 🤡
Give it to every Australian.
Great news. Awkward lede considering the coronavirus pandemic isn't actually over, but. Great news.
Gift link! Breakthrough vaccine for the deadliest skin cancer cut risk by almost half By Daniel Wu The vaccine used against melanoma is based on mRNA technology that helped end the coronavirus pandemic. @danswu.bsky.social
shoot all the mRNA vaccines into my veins as quickly as possible please thanks
This is amazing. I'm sad it comes a few years too late for my dad. But hopefully a lot of lives are saved.
Make it make sense: Moderna can cut skin cancer risk in half, but their stock loses 25% of its value when the trials leak, yet the AI companies are going up while hemmoraging cash because they can’t find enough paying customers.
