Andy Burnham defends approving Jackdaw gas field as part of net‑zero plan
Andy Burnham going on Goggle Box for stand up to cancer… total abuse. Prince William going on ‘Graham Norton show’… silence
Also: “Keir Starmer never tries to show any personality - he’s terrible, get rid of him.” “Andy Burnham is trying to show some personality - he’s terrible, get rid of him.” 🤷🏻
The "inner" Royals (at least!) knowing about the accusations about Meghan's father, but failing to defend her in any way when she's criticised for "not letting her dad see his grandchildren"! More and more I'm taking Harry's side!
I'm not overwhelmed by Burnham going on Gogglebox and said so, but having seen who's criticising him I now say go for it. Tbf though, Prince William isn't running the country, I don't want my PM to be a celebrity but then I cannot stand any celebrity programmes, just gives them free publicity.
Burnham aside, it had me in tears watching it and donation sent. Having just lost my mum to cancer it hit home again how devastating cancer is. But apparently we need defense spending up to 3%, 3.5%, 5%, 10%…. The number will continue going up no doubt when a killer lives with us daily 🤷♂️
"The climate crisis....is here, on our doorstep, affecting people’s lives and livelihoods. I am personally committed to confronting it, and I will not abandon the responsibility we have to future generations" Good to hear despite Jackdaw Now - block Rosebank www.theguardian.com/environment/...
It's bullshit. If he cared about tackling the crisis, not only would he block Jackdaw, he'd be pulling out all the stops and investing properly in transitioning rapidly to renewables. This requires a wartime-like effort, but our government's actions are to further enrich the likes of Shell.
Jackdaw doesn't stand up to scrutiny, it's not reassuring to see the government focussing on it while there are rumours they are going to cut heatpumps and insulation for defence: climateuncensored.com/jackdaw-a-de... The wealth fund (good), but the field won't generate much net tax revenue I bet.
He'll just kick the can down the road.
Fine words but he's all about maintaining business as usual... economic growth for every postcode...🥴
Sir Keir Starmer’s former cost of living tsar has urged Andy Burnham to move the offices of the UK prime minister out of 10 Downing Street and turn the nerve centre of government for almost 300 years into a museum or flats. www.ft.com/content/72a7...
Looks like it’s time for…
Wasn’t St Paul’s Cathedral a Starbucks at one point and Westminster Abbey a Gail’s? Admiralty Arch as a Le Meridien and MoD as a Raffles. At least FT London won’t become a Lidl any time soon.
While they are at it they should move parliament to a retail park on the outskirts of Nuneaton.
No 10 would make an awesome Iceland, and if you knock through No 11 there is rooms for a Home Bargains too.
Excellent idea. Make the move to Manchester full time & permanent.
Yes turn the houses of parliament into a museum as well . Maybe keep it as a debating chamber.
Andy Burnham is comfortably the most likeable of the party leaders, which poses a significant challenge to the Tories and Reform.
And right wing media. Hence their collective hysteria about him doing the show.
he's also proving to be a bit of a disappointment
They're looking for an angle on him, as usual. They've clearly not yet found it. At least not one yet that is readily one they can exploit to their own agenda, not one that sticks. They'll turn their attention to those around him, is not already.
