On Oct. 25 Russia launched roughly 153 Shahed-type drones at Ukraine, including 92 jet-powered drones, and strikes across the country killed eight people and injured 51, Ukrainian authorities said. A Russian drone struck a five-story apartment building in Vinnytsia overnight, injuring six people, hospitalizing one, and completely destroying four flats while causing structural damage between the second and third floors, Nataliia Zabolotna, head of the Vinnytsia Oblast Military Administration, said. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that air defenses intercepted 119 drones, including 64 jet-powered ones, while at least nine drones remained in Ukrainian airspace as of 8 a.m. Some drones evaded defenses and struck 15 locations, with falling debris recorded at nine other sites. Regional officials gave additional tolls: Dnipropetrovsk Oblast reported three killed and 14 injured, including an 11-year-old girl; Nikopol District reported two women killed and five injured; Kharkiv Oblast reported one man killed in Lozova and multiple other wounded; Donetsk Oblast reported one killed in the village of Yarova; and Sumy Oblast reported a 31-year-old woman killed on a farm and several injured. Ukrainian authorities said Russian forces used low-cost Banderol cruise missiles alongside the Shahed drones, and air-defense efforts to intercept remaining drones were ongoing.
