Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras was named World Series MVP after the Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in five games to capture the franchise's first World Series title. Contreras hit .381 (8-for-21) in the series with four RBI, two runs, one stolen base, and several caught-stealing throws that aided Milwaukee's defense. He also played a decisive role in replay challenges, with reports crediting him and the Brewers with 10 overturned calls via the ABS review process and a 10-for-13 success rate on challenges. Contreras became the eighth catcher in history to win World Series MVP. Contreras thanked his brother Willson on Fox, saying, "It means everything to me. My brother is my best friend. I appreciate him for everything." Earlier in 2026 Contreras helped Venezuela win the World Baseball Classic, making this season a WBC and World Series double for him.
