Phantom Blade Zero surpasses 430,000 concurrent players on Steam

gamingOct 29, 202618321

Phantom Blade Zero launched on PC and PlayStation 5 and hit roughly 430,000 concurrent players on Steam at peak, marking one of 2026’s biggest debuts. Fans are fixated on protagonist Soul, celebrating the game’s wuxia-flavored combat and exploration even as many call the story “absolute nonsense.” Conversations have centered on whether the game distances itself from Soulslike difficulty expectations, while creatives have been reworking a Jubei-themed piece into Soul and an assistant localization editor, Giancarlo Vazquez, has publicly noted his contributions to the English text. Enthusiasts are also swapping early impressions about technical glitches and anticipating patches as the player surge continues.

As much as I've enjoyed the souls genre, it's crazy to see people disliking Phantom Blade Zero for NOT being as hard or challenging as those games... when that was never their intention. As much as that genre had paved the way for it, they don't all need to be the same experience again and again.
