Trick or Treat, Halloween celebrations underway

cultureOct 31, 2026102652

Halloween celebrations are underway with neighbourhood trick-or-treating, themed broadcasts and creator posts. BBC Radio 4 aired a special edition of The Matt Forde Focus Group, recorded before a live theatre audience, in which Matt Forde asked whether modern politics has become a long game of trick-or-treat; guests included The Spectator's Isabel Hardman and Malawian-born comedian Daliso Chaponda. The BBC programme credited additional writers Karl Minns, Katie Storey and Richard Garvin and listed producers Richard Garvin and Daisy Knight. Forecasters issued a final weather verdict saying conditions are good for children and Halloween revellers to go trick-or-treating. Artists, toy photographers and hobbyists shared costume pictures, illustrations and seasonal greetings, and creators posted Halloween-themed prompts, drawings and calls to join festivities. Local traditions and memories also featured in posts, with some contributors noting older customs such as guising and recounting personal Halloween experiences from childhood to overseas life.
