In Rotterdam's De Wielewaal more than 200 children, parents and visitors took part in a neighborhood Halloween evening that began at Scouting Charlois and featured a speurtocht and snoeproute through the wijk. Participants in costumes including witches, ghosts and skeletons followed clues and treats, with a notable stop at the bakfietsheks for a "bloedtransfusie-sap" and a Halloween-stuiterbal. The event again partnered with Stadsboerderij De Molenwei to host a levend spookhuis where volunteers and acting 'living ghosts' staged a spooky walkthrough that many children under age twelve completed without hesitation. Organizers called the edition very successful and publicly thanked Scouting Charlois, Stadsboerderij De Molenwei, volunteers, begeleiders and dozens of residents who helped put the evening on. Growth of the event is creating logistical strain because a small core team currently runs the programme, so the organizers issued an open invitation for residents with ideas or willingness to help to join a Halloween-werkgroep. The appeal aims to expand the volunteer base so the neighborhood tradition can continue and scale in coming years.
