Warren and Schumer clash over the future direction of the Democratic Party
@vanhollen.senate.gov This republic needs you. This moment -- this mandate -- is squandered if the Democratic Party treats it as an interregnum in which they govern better. It must be more. We must address the structural flaws that allowed for this dry run at real fascism. Schumer, no. You. Now.
Right. Everyone who saw January 6 couldn't understand why literally fuckall happened after it.
Re: "ordinary clutter" at the top. I suggest this fellow, who has a penchant for TV appearances and a particular affection for his own rectitude, has no feck.
Jeffries is not made for this moment either...
Single payer, living wage, codify abortion, right to housing, employment and higher education, all the unfinished business of the New Deal. Pass it all and DARE him to veto it. He’ll heel turn so fast in his desperation to be liked Ric Flair’s head will spin.
counting potential not-Schumer votes in the Senate and having a hard time getting out of the teens rn, who'm I missing: Stratton, Jackson, Hamilton, Flanagan, AES, Talarico, Pappas, Warren, Sanders, Murphy, Van Hollen, Markey, Slotkin, Merkley, Kim, Heinrich
I think the play is, this bloc votes for someone else and loses this year, then Schumer bows out gracefully and lets AOC take his seat
Hopefully Van Hollen can count votes and decides immediate red meat to populist wreckers isn’t worth a fight he was never going to win in the first place
Well, I haven't heard of anyone even thinking about challenging Schumer for Leader. It's one thing for people to say they don't want Schumer. It's another thing to say someone is challenging Schumer.
You mean felling the leaders is performative bullshit with no second move the way it was in 2019? Again, as your fellow Normal Man observed this is like firing the coach after an undefeated season with the bowl game a blowout against one’s greatest rival.
I think one problem here is that the Hamiltons and Talaricos of the world are much more likely to abstain than vote for someone they think may be more likely to make them take tough votes (Mostly thinking Hamilton here, who obviously has said he wouldn't vote Schumer)
Maybe Bennet if he's thinking about his primary (but probably not)
Yeah it remains to be seen if Van Hollen And Co. can count.
This is it’s still primarily the Fight Club (and some first-time senators who got endorsements from the Fight Club specifically for promising not to back Schumer). And the Fight Club senators thought Schumer had the wrong strategy for the midterms that just swept Dems back to majorities.
