Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth removed Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George and forced the retirement of two other senior Army generals. One of the officers removed was Maj. Gen. William Green, and Christopher LaNeve is set to assume senior Army leadership. On the same day Hegseth signed a memo letting service members request permission to carry personal firearms on military bases. The moves reshape Army leadership, raise concerns about politicization of the military, and change base security policy.
