Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said on April 19 that he will formally propose to EU governments on April 21 to suspend or terminate the EU-Israel Association Agreement. Sánchez announced the move at a Socialist Workers' Party rally in Gibraleón, citing Israeli military operations in Gaza and Lebanon and recent Israeli legislation targeting Palestinians. Slovenia's and Ireland's foreign ministers joined Spain in calling for suspension of the pact.
