David Oscar Markus, a Florida attorney now representing Ghislaine Maxwell, told reporters that former President Donald Trump could pardon Maxwell. Maxwell was convicted in December 2021 on sex trafficking charges involving minors and was later sentenced to 20 years in federal prison. Markus said he will pursue clemency as the next step in efforts to secure her release. A presidential pardon would eliminate Maxwell's federal punishments and could directly free her from custody if granted.
