Poll: James Talarico leads both GOP contenders in Texas Senate matchups
A new statewide poll shows Democrat James Talarico leading Republican Sen. John Cornyn by 3 points and Attorney General Ken Paxton by 5 points in hypothetical Texas U.S. Senate matchups. The poll attributes Talarico's edge to strong margins with moderates and independent voters. With roughly six months until the November general election, the result moves Texas' Senate contest into the top tier of competitive races and could affect control of the U.S. Senate if the trends hold.
