Myanmar's junta transferred Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi from Naypyidaw Prison to house arrest to serve the remainder of an 18-year sentence, the military said. She has been in detention since the military ousted her government in the 2021 coup and has now spent more than five years under junta custody. Her legal team says it plans to meet her this weekend in Naypyidaw after the transfer. Advocates in Japan, South Korea, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada launched a "Proof of Life" campaign calling for independent verification of her health and access, underscoring international concern over her status.
