Takashi Tezuka to retire as Nintendo executive in June

Takashi Tezuka will retire as an executive officer and from Nintendo's board effective June 26, 2026, ending a career at the company spanning more than 40 years. Tezuka helped design and direct landmark Nintendo projects, from early work on the original Super Mario Bros. to directing Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Yoshi's Island, and he produced Super Mario Bros. Wonder. His level design and creative leadership shaped core mechanics and puzzles that defined Mario and Zelda gameplay, making his departure a significant moment for Nintendo's long-serving creative leadership.
