New Eric Morecambe mural unveiled for comedian's 100th birthday

A new mural of Eric Morecambe was unveiled on Morecambe's seaside promenade as part of a centenary festival marking what would have been his 100th birthday. The events honor John Eric Bartholomew, the comic born in 1926 who rose to national fame as one half of the Morecambe and Wise duo. The town already features a bronze statue of Morecambe, and organisers are using the anniversary to spotlight his 'Bring Me Sunshine' legacy and boost cultural tourism in Morecambe.

Generations of Brits grew up with the Morecambe and Wise show. What legends they were. Their show was the centerpiece of every Christmas for years. Thank you for the post and the wonderful memories it invokes.

Eric Morecambe's Centenary today. I mean, you could post any picture of the man and it'd make you happy, but this one promoting Morecambe and Wise's guest shot on "The Sweeney" takes the cake, and probably the doily it was sitting on as well.
