After 326 days at sea, the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier has returned home. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth welcomed the sailors whose deployment was significantly delayed by Operation "Epic Fury" in Iran – the longest continuous carrier deployment since the Vietnam War.

The USS Gerald R. Ford has returned home to Virginia. The world's largest aircraft carrier is back in port at Naval Station Norfolk after an 11-month deployment.

Nearly 4,500 sailors returned to Virginia after what Navy officials called the longest carrier strike group deployment since the Vietnam War.

Some of the sailors will return to nothing. They may have lost homes, wives left them ect.. That's almost a year. At a young age some people move on. Sad AF. Those families don't have much money. This was a major hardship. I know what long deployments look like. apnews.com/article/uss-...
