In a CDC briefing Sunday, federal health officials declined to say whether Americans have been exposed to Ebola when asked by multiple reporters. @helenbranswell.bsky.social of @statnews.com first pressed them on reporting that Americans exposed in Congo could be repatriated.

Live Ebola virus research can only be conducted in Maximum Containment (Biosafety Level 4 or BSL-4) facilities. Globally, there are roughly 50 to 60 operational BSL-4 labs distributed across North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. About 14 are in the USA. Leaving quite a few.
