Iran and Oman in talks over Strait of Hormuz ship payment system

The New York Times reports Iran and Oman are negotiating a permit-and-payment system for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran's newly created Persian Gulf Strait Authority said it has "defined the boundaries of the Strait of Hormuz management supervision area." Under the proposals Iran would require transit permits and charge fees for passage, and Tehran has proposed partnering with Oman to help administer the system. Because the Strait of Hormuz carries a large share of global oil shipments, a formal permit-and-toll regime would change shipping procedures, raise costs for exporters and importers, and heighten diplomatic friction across the Gulf and with Western powers.

Not to be outdone, Trump will now charge taxpayers $2 for every $0.50 that ships are charged which will go directly into a vacation/party fund for any ICE agent accused of sexual assault in or out of work.
