CBS insiders worry 60 Minutes can’t endure after Scott Pelley firing

Credit where credit's due. CBS Evening News ran a fair and transparent story on Scott Pelley's firing, and Tony Dokoupil aired his own tribute, calling Pelley "a journalist who valued truth at all costs, and always kept alive the memory of colleagues killed in the field." He then thanked Pelley.

As I was listening, I couldn’t get over how much it sounds like he‘s reading Pelley’s obituary. Steady use of past tense. Then it occurred to me that maybe he IS reciting Pelley’s obit. News organizations pre-write them for prominent individuals. Kind of a sick joke while sounding noble?
