Wear Orange, National Gun Violence Awareness Day observed

On June 5 communities across the United States observed National Gun Violence Awareness Day by wearing orange and holding vigils and local events, including Saginaw's 2nd Annual Wear Orange event hosted by Red Wine & Blue and Mobile County NAACP's Project Wear Orange. Organizers emphasized the scale of the crisis, citing roughly 46,686 gun deaths per year in the U.S., about 130 people shot and killed daily and more than 200 wounded each day. Local officials and faith leaders acted to mark the day, Loudoun County issued a proclamation, Philadelphia congregations tolled bells, and advocacy groups such as Everytown and Moms Demand Action urged safe-storage campaigns, assault-weapon limits, and civil liability to reduce future losses.
