newsJun 5, 202681876

Advocates across the United States observed National Gun Violence Awareness Day by wearing orange and holding vigils and local events, including Saginaw's 2nd Annual Wear Orange event organized with Red Wine and Blue. Organizers and participants highlighted that gun violence kills nearly 47,000 people in the United States each year and urged measures like safe gun storage under the slogan "Lock Up Your Guns." Survivors and groups pushed for stronger protections against stalkers and intimate partner violence involving firearms, distributed fact sheets, and offered a text line to find local events by texting ORANGE to 644-33.
