Apple unveils Siri AI with dedicated app at WWDC

I hate this Siri AI demo, it’s like… just do this yourself? You can’t even write your own messages to your friends? You can’t look up dishes or recipes? Why do you even exist then, what the fuck?!

The all-new Siri AI looks like it's finally coming to iPhone in 2026, after much drama, analyst hand-wringing, and two years later than expected.

Here is tl;dr - Apple focused heavily on performance, lots of papercut fixes - Did a bunch of work on child safety and parental controls - Huge improvements to Siri(AI) and overall Apple Intelligence: mostly good things in search/personal context, powered by spotlight, a few weird ones.

The new Siri AI features are clearly using some sort of search engine (Google) so wonder how strong Apple's privacy guarantees are.

We might not get Siri AI, but at least we're not losing our bottle caps.

What a relief to finally announce the features we’ve been working on for so long now. Siri AI is, I think, the Siri we always wished Siri could be, but never quite had the capability to realize. So excited to have it in everyone’s hands!

The Mike Rockwell demo makes it pretty clear: Apple views the iPhone + Siri AI as an AI device. Some Star Trek communicator vibes... with a screen, of course. Nice UI. IF IT WORKS, this should be big. Obviously, only Google (and maybe Samsung) can match right now. #wwdc26
