A senior Iranian official told Drop Site News that Tehran warned President Donald Trump it could strike Israel "without warning" if the United States does not pressure to end the war in Lebanon. Iran says it believes it won a historic victory in recent negotiations but is prepared for the preliminary U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding to collapse; Switzerland has paused planned talks to finalize the deal. The preliminary MOU commits both sides to halt military operations in Lebanon and to pursue a final peace agreement and phased sanctions relief within 60 days. The warning raises the prospect that the Lebanon-Israel conflict could widen into direct Iran-Israel strikes and makes U.S. mediation pivotal to preventing rapid escalation.

I've been saying this for a while (as have others!) but the administration doesn't seem to think people outside the administration have agency or motives or can plan let alone act. Now the situation is both Iran _and_ Israel (and possibly Hezbollah!) get to veto any end to the war they don't like.
