Lewis Hawkes, 36, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with five counts of attempted murder "aggravated by reason of having a terrorist connection" following a series of attacks in Edinburgh. The incidents began near Broomhouse Mosque in west Edinburgh at about 20:30 on Friday and left five people injured. Prosecutors also charged Hawkes with assault, robbery, breach of the peace and culpable and reckless conduct.
