European Research Council names 319 ERC Advanced Grant winners

The European Research Council awarded 319 ERC Advanced Grants selected from 3,329 applicants, funding projects that range from quantum physics to brain organoids and economic history. Winners include Jürgen Knoblich for CASCO using brain organoids, Alyssa Ney for MetaQ on the nature of reality in quantum physics, and Olivier Tercieux at Paris School of Economics; 62 awardees will be based in the United Kingdom, 46 in Germany, and 32 in Switzerland. This round is the first since the ERC doubled mobility funding for researchers outside the EU and carries a 9.6% success rate, underscoring continued investment in long-term frontier research across Europe.
