New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani jumped into the Thomas Jefferson Pool in East Harlem on the city pool season opening day, wearing a full suit. The plunge revived a longstanding mayoral tradition that the previous two mayors, Bill de Blasio and Eric Adams, skipped. City Hall reporter Katie Honan had asked Mamdani in April whether he would take the inaugural dip, and he followed through at the event.
