Progressive Manny Rutinel wins Colorado competitive House primary
A downballot result: In the highest-profile Democratic primary for Colorado's state Senate, the progressive side has easily prevailed. Chela Garcia Irlando, an environmental advocate, has won over Andrés Carrera, a former staffer for Governor Jared Polis.
This was to replace Julie Gonzales, one of the most prominent progressives in the Colorado legislature who was term-limited and ran (and lost) for the U.S. Senate.
Props to all who predicted Polis’s pardon of the icky Trump lady would make him toxic by association
Anyone connected to Polis should lose unless they strongly spoke out against him or resigned in protest
After Tina Peters, Polis has to be a scarlet letter in liberal Colorado. 👽
Anyone associated with Polis has an albatross hanging around their neck
Being associated with Polis seems toxic right now.
I am very pleased with who is succeeding Julie Gonzales though. Excited for Chela!
november is going to be very interesting if this is the energy
To anyone who thinks aggressive progressiveness is a weak strategy, its been beating the hell out of the appeasers.
Polis staffer is not something you want on your resume if you hope to be elected to anything
I feel like a houseplant would prevail over anyone connected to Polis. The man turned himself into a superfund site.
To be fair, Polis is radioactive at this point.
If Victor Marx loses the primary for Colorado governor, we may never find how many people he’s killed. And I am still really curious.
Republicans voting for a guy called "Marx" lol.
I still maintain he's a future Behind the Bastards episode subject
“Does it matter?” Isn’t that what he said to you, like ‘who here among us hasn’t killed someone?’ 🧐🤪
For someone who demonstrates his level of arrogance and narcissism, I don’t think you will have to wait too long. The truth will come out either accidentally or intentionally. That’s what narcissists do.
No matter who wins that primary - we can say that 60% of Republican primary voters voted for a batshit-crazy candidate (Marx or Bottoms).
A legend in his own mind.
So far 185k republicans in Colorado have voted for the dude. A psychopath who makes up outlandish stories…and that many republicans voted for him. The GOP is well and truly broken beyond repair.
Well, I know Kyle just killed me, so that's at least 1 by association.
AIPAC Defeated Again – This Time in Colorado Democratic socialist and underdog Melat Kiros won the Democratic primary for Colorado's first congressional district. Read today's 'First Draft' by @premthakker.bsky.social: zeteo.com/p/aipac-defe...
Shumey has to go 👋🏻
Proud of this young generation. I'm Gen X and they're giving me hope. I'm ready to fight with them.
My first dem socialist vote…and I voted for degette every time she ran in the past
I cannot wait for the day where the US cuts Israel off completely. I feel like that day is coming soon.
I saw "left-wing insurgent ousts..." and assumed this was a story about a coup in Latin America, and not the Democratic Party primary in Denver. I'm sure NYT also got extra credit from its corporate overlords for running the most menacing photo they could find (which is not particularly menacing).
When the pedophiles call us socialists, we should explain that socialism is a good thing and they’re pedophiles. Republicans sacrifice infants, toddlers, children, women and then they eat their bodies so they can stay young … Republicans are evil.
🏆 😂 “insurgent” is definite a, um, choice “It entered the English language in the mid-18th century as a term for a person who rises in revolt against an established government” -Oxford Dictionary Given the current “established government,” though, I embrace this insurgency.
Fox friends showing tape of her yelling at her victory rally, because she’s a scary radical. Not conservative like tearing down a third of the White House, she’s radical.
"Look how angry she MIGHT be! Please join us in the fear cave"
When people are desperate and feel they are clinging, they grasp. That said, it is going to be very important that a blue congress is able to coalesce into one power in order to effect change. The right is doing all it can to divide the blue side.
Sometimes I think maybe I will get my New York Times a subscription again, beyond the puzzles, and then they do shit like this and I think no, I'm not giving them more money.
Bird was a Democratic Majority for Israel endorsee, one of two candidates who got EMILYs List's Women Vote PAC support after it got $500,000 from DMFI. Pro-Israel PACs around 50% this cycle, a stunning turnaround from 2022 and 2024.
We Are Going To Win
Trump Snubs Lauren Boebert Ahead of Colorado Primary After Epstein Files Rift Trump didn’t celebrate the Colorado congresswoman’s win meidasnews.com/news/trump-s...
Hopefully her Dem opponent will defeat her in November—Dems need a 40+ House victory to shut the Trump Mafia corruption down beginning 1/21/27
She didn’t win the primary. It was an uncontested race.
I don’t care, she doesn’t belong in Congress.
how in the hell did this idiot WIN?
I can't believe she won.
and she ran unopposed, he likes to take credit for those races
BREAKING: Phil Weiser upsets Michael Bennet to win Democratic primary for Colorado governor
Broadly speaking, the people want their government back. Anything that reeks of the last decade is going to be treated like week-old supermarket sushi left in the sun.
Good, damn tired of the Pablum Centrists
Remember when Michael Bennet thought he could be a contender for President:
BRIEF COMMENT This means accountability is in growing order and he will have to fight Hickenlooper to achieve it.
My Two Points: 1. Democrats realize that the State-level, NOT Washington D.C., is where you can be a LEADER and have a Real Impact. And more effectively Oppose Trump. 2. Democratic Voters want NEW Faces. It's NOT policy, at the primary level--it's freshness, authenticity, passion.
I typically don’t like thirsting after politicians. but factually. a very pretty man. Congrats CO08
A shame he changed all his views and is now a climate change aligned gas fracker who is also siding with Israel after previously being a socialist pro Palestinian.
By no means his most important attribute, but indeed yes.
That's a goddamn hot ass man
Oooh a great start to the night. Let’s keep the momentum going!
And Manny Rutinel won tonight, which is good news for Colorado, but even better news for @runwithskizzers.bsky.social, who has made her stance on this absolute smokeshow clear.
As have I: If he's glowed up this well from 29 to 31, by 50 he's going to be fucking unstoppable.
also i would like to make sure anyone who appreciates this man(ny) is also aware of LA’s city controller Kenneth Mejia, because he is very good at his job, handily defeated a challenger despite an absurd campaign spend imbalance, and is also quite easy on the eyes
I have never once been attracted to a politician until this very moment. I hope he does a good job!!
Holy hell. I am looking, respectfully.
Oh he's got dimples. That is unfair.
In the recent photo he almost looks like that guy from criminal minds
!!!! Let’s get those movie star good looks in the halls of Congress!
Kiros is also super hot, Colorado knows what we’re doing
damn he's fine as hell
"When people hear about my personal story and our campaign’s momentum to take back the House, people tell me I’m Trump’s worst nightmare." 🥵 Ay papi!
Please dear god, get this guy into debate practice. I'll even browbeat him if necessary.
