Progressive Manny Rutinel wins Colorado competitive House primary
A downballot result: In the highest-profile Democratic primary for Colorado's state Senate, the progressive side has easily prevailed. Chela Garcia Irlando, an environmental advocate, has won over Andrés Carrera, a former staffer for Governor Jared Polis.
This was to replace Julie Gonzales, one of the most prominent progressives in the Colorado legislature who was term-limited and ran (and lost) for the U.S. Senate.
Props to all who predicted Polis’s pardon of the icky Trump lady would make him toxic by association
Anyone connected to Polis should lose unless they strongly spoke out against him or resigned in protest
After Tina Peters, Polis has to be a scarlet letter in liberal Colorado. 👽
I am very pleased with who is succeeding Julie Gonzales though. Excited for Chela!
november is going to be very interesting if this is the energy
Polis staffer is not something you want on your resume if you hope to be elected to anything
To anyone who thinks aggressive progressiveness is a weak strategy, its been beating the hell out of the appeasers.
I feel like a houseplant would prevail over anyone connected to Polis. The man turned himself into a superfund site.
⚡️ Another Democratic Socialist wins a primary — this time in Colorado: @melatkirosco.bsky.social 🎉
DeGette was a 29 year incumbent. Huge.
Time for the Democratic Party leadership to wake up and smell the coffee. The base is fed up with do nothing centrists…
There’s definitely a shift on politically, the corporate democrats need to be cleaned out
Holy hell! Colorado! WTG to one of the best states in the union.
A wave is coming.....and the people are beginning to plant their surfboards, boogie boards, jet skis, and wooden rafts on it. We the people are tired of the Epstein class robbing us blind and living high on the hog while we are barely scraping by. Vote blue in November, your life depends on it.
Not called yet but the first drop should favored DeGette. It did not.
Feels like the political revolution is happening.
HOLY SHIT ANOTHER W!!!!!!!!!!!!! centrist tears bro omg
NOT sure the DeGette/Kiros Primary has been called yet. BUT, if Kiros wins, the message to the Democratic Party Establishment & Leadership is simple: "We [the Voters] are Mad as Hell...and we want FIGHTERS!"
So I guess socialists can win outside of NYC
Everyone check on your centrist Dem friends; they might not be ok.
It ain't just NY 😉
VoteHub projects Melat Kiros to win the Democratic primary for Colorado U.S. House District 1.
Getting badmouthed by Democrats is like an in-kind contribution.
wow she curb stomped degette
another radical DSA candidate easily winning
It seems like voters hate being represented by old people
But it's not a trend. Don't put it in your newspapers that it's a trend.
I was told DSA candidates were only viable in New York City
again i say that you cannot expect hostility to israel, even hostility that skirts close to antisemitism, to be a dealbreaker for the democratic base when israel enthusiastically supported donald trump and is a proud member of the global illiberal axis
yet another DSA shot across the bow. this now means a DSA block of at least 6 in Congress next year (Tlaib, AOC, Claire Valdez, Darializa Avila Chevalier, Chris Rabb, and now Melat Kiros) with potential to add at least two more (Donavan McKinney and Cori Bush) later this year
another radical leftist endorsed by hussein pecker !
They're calling it the United Socialist States of America folks
🌹Big Ups to DSA Denver and @melatkirosco.bsky.social for their amazing win tonight. Socialist Block expanding! Our movement is on 🔥
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO DSA SWEEP
Preliminary results Tuesday night showed U.S. Rep. Diana DeGette’s 30-year career in Congress on track to be brought to an end by a democratic socialist and first-time candidate born four months after DeGette first took office. By @chasewoodruff.bsky.social
God how I hope Kiros holds this lead. DeGette meant well, but she’s become Boomer deadweight in our Congress. We need the energetic and radical new blood. And I say that as a (tail-end) Boomer myself.
Excellent. 30 years without doing an F-ing thing to help her constituents SHOULD come to an end. An elected office should NOT be a permanent job. We should put term limits on ALL elected offices.
Bird was a Democratic Majority for Israel endorsee, one of two candidates who got EMILYs List's Women Vote PAC support after it got $500,000 from DMFI. Pro-Israel PACs around 50% this cycle, a stunning turnaround from 2022 and 2024.
We Are Going To Win
11:30pm state of the Colorado GOP Gov primary (+ campaign spending per vote) Barb Kirkmeyer 40.22% ($3.58) Victor Marx 39.43% ($16.33) 👀 Scott Bottoms 20.35% ($2.59)
Scott might be getting a taste of "high risk humanitarianism" in the not-too-distant future
There are some really scary people getting elected all over America but what scares me to death is the people.. the people voting for SCARY people Victor Marx AND Lauren Boebert yikes!! I just dont understand
Scott Bottoms acting as a spoiler for the "complete lunatic" wing of the party
And Manny Rutinel won tonight, which is good news for Colorado, but even better news for @runwithskizzers.bsky.social, who has made her stance on this absolute smokeshow clear.
As have I: If he's glowed up this well from 29 to 31, by 50 he's going to be fucking unstoppable.
also i would like to make sure anyone who appreciates this man(ny) is also aware of LA’s city controller Kenneth Mejia, because he is very good at his job, handily defeated a challenger despite an absurd campaign spend imbalance, and is also quite easy on the eyes
I have never once been attracted to a politician until this very moment. I hope he does a good job!!
Oh he's got dimples. That is unfair.
!!!! Let’s get those movie star good looks in the halls of Congress!
Kiros is also super hot, Colorado knows what we’re doing
damn he's fine as hell
"When people hear about my personal story and our campaign’s momentum to take back the House, people tell me I’m Trump’s worst nightmare." 🥵 Ay papi!
Please dear god, get this guy into debate practice. I'll even browbeat him if necessary.
BREAKING: Phil Weiser upsets Michael Bennet to win Democratic primary for Colorado governor
Remember when Michael Bennet thought he could be a contender for President:
BRIEF COMMENT This means accountability is in growing order and he will have to fight Hickenlooper to achieve it.
My Two Points: 1. Democrats realize that the State-level, NOT Washington D.C., is where you can be a LEADER and have a Real Impact. And more effectively Oppose Trump. 2. Democratic Voters want NEW Faces. It's NOT policy, at the primary level--it's freshness, authenticity, passion.
