Yep. No physical media? Just won't upgrade. Normally I buy a second hand console, some new, and many second hand games. Game backlog is decades long and I have PCs, I don't need the new offerings.

The trouble with the price rises on consoles, PC's, anything that needs RAM is that people are less likely to upgrade leaving the second hand market in tatters too. £1,000 for a console? Nah, I'll stick with my PS4 thanks.

78% of PS games are bought digitally and that number is going down, so I can see the logic in this. But for me it removes the justification for playing on a console. If I can't even own the games physically I might as well get a Steam Machine.

It was kinda funny watching people scream that the Steam Machine was overpriced. They have no idea how bad things are right now. RAM prices are projected to *increase* in the coming months, if a PlayStation 6 launches before 2028, it’s going to cost like $1500…and that’s with Sony subsidizing!

I know people will say "PC gamers have been doing this" but those digital games are not tied to a piece of singular hardware that dictates everything you can do if Sony is doing this, I might as well get a Steam Machine or build my own PC (because that PS6 price will also be atrocious)

Nintendo has got me hooked with exclusive IPs that I want to continue enjoying, but the closest thing Sony has is timed exclusive Final Fantasy games. I'd sooner buy a Steam Machine than a digital-only PS6.
