Lewis Hamilton will start the British Grand Prix sprint from pole position at Silverstone after narrowly beating Mercedes team mate Andrea Kimi Antonelli, with Hamilton quickest in all three qualifying stages. Championship leader Antonelli will line up second, three places ahead of his other team mate George Russell, who qualified fifth. Max Verstappen took third, beating Charles Leclerc by six thousandths of a second to ensure three different teams occupy the top three grid slots. Russell missed lining up directly behind Antonelli by four hundredths of a second and held the same margin over the McLaren pair, with Lando Norris down in sixth. Isack Hadjar showed pace on the medium tyre early but faded on softs to take eighth, ahead of the two Racing Bulls. Carlos Sainz Jr beat Oliver Bearman by one hundredth of a second to claim the final spot in the top 10 shoot-out; Sergio Perez was over a second quicker than the Aston Martins but about seven tenths short of progressing further.
