Mauricio Pochettino throws ceremonial first pitch in Seattle
A solid pitch, just a bit outside from Mauricio Pochettino.
Shohei smacks this into Canada tbh
Man that's a tight strike zone, just needed a good catcher to frame it
I appreciate he walked up 10 ft past where he was supposed to throw from
randy arozarena challenged this and lost it too
"It's about to keep dreaming, is about to keep working really hard and competing."
Front of the mound. Where's the fighting spirit, Mo?
"I can get fish and chips, but served in a plastic ferry?" - Poch, probably
Bruce Arena would’ve thrown it from the rubber. Disappointing from Poch.
Practice and coaching from the boys paid off. Not a bad first pitch at all.
Mauricio Pochettino will throw out the first pitch at tonight's Seattle Mariners game, so the Argentine is understandably getting in some practice reps as the USMNT set up their training session at U of Washington. Looks like Matt Turner and Wes McKennie are offering some guidance. Rapid progress!
This is honestly very charming.
Soccer players (who've never played baseball or football) can't throw. I remember seeing Schweinsteiger throw out a pitch some years ago. It was bad!! They'd be better off throwing it over their head with 2 hands like a soccer throw-in.
Matt's shrug at the end. "Not terrible?"
As someone who has pitched and coached pitchers, his form is not terrible!
He should toss the ball up, and volley it with his foot to the catcher.
no! no!! dont get mariner stink on him!!
It's always fun to see world class athletes in one sport trying to pick up another. Soccer players have not spent any time developing eye hand coordination or the proprioception necessary to throw a ball or shoot a basket. There are videos of Mo Salah shooting buckets that are hilarious.
Man each time I see stuff like this, I believe that he'd sign up for four more years here
Has Poch ever thrown a ball before
USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino throws out the first pitch to Seattle Mariners manager Dan Wilson ahead of a game against the Toronto Blue Jays at T-Mobile Park. #Mariners #TridentsUp
Okay. There were tears. Let's GO!
Many — myself included — criticized Mauricio Pochettino. For leaving Pulisic + McKennie off rosters. His disregard for chemistry. His World Cup midfield picks. But credit is due: Pochettino has nailed every big choice for the USMNT this summer. For @backheeled.com ⤵️
It hasn't always been smooth sailing for Pochettino's USMNT. Cultural reset began in March '25. Not on the same page with Pulisic last summer. Reps for the best lineup very limited. Now the U.S.'s first World Cup quarterfinal appearance in more than two decades feels possible.
Should have brought Luna and Gozo
Man, he's been building chemistry this whole time, I don't know what you've been watching. This team is locked-in because they trust their coach.
