Teoscar Hernández hits go‑ahead grand slam to lift Dodgers

sportsJul 4, 202620503

Teoscar Hernández crushed a go-ahead grand slam off Adrian Morejon on the first pitch of the seventh inning, turning a 3-0 deficit into a 4-3 lead and completing the Los Angeles Dodgers' comeback over the San Diego Padres. The homer was Hernández's first since May 23. Michael King had been perfect into the seventh before walking Mookie Betts; after Max Muncy singled, King was lifted and Jake Cronenworth booted what should have been a double play, loading the bases with no outs. Two runs were charged to King and two to Morejon. Shohei Ohtani logged a season-high 110 pitches, allowed seven hits, two walks and three runs while striking out nine, and Dalton Rushing returned behind the plate. The Dodgers extended their National League West lead to 14 games and dropped the Padres' losing streak to seven games. Both teams meet again Saturday night in game three of the four-game series on July 4.
