Trump shares doctored photo of Obamas beside graffiti‑covered Air Force One

cultureJul 6, 202615318

President Donald Trump on Sunday posted a falsified image showing former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama waving as they boarded an Air Force One that had been spray-painted with graffiti reading "Yes We Can," "Obama," "BLM," and the Arabic phrase "alhamdulillah". The image revived controversy after a February post in which Trump depicted the Obamas as primates; that earlier post was deleted after bipartisan backlash and was blamed on a staffer. The use of graffiti in the image echoes a long-running racist tactic linking graffiti to crime and urban decay, a point highlighted by civil rights commentators. The photo came days after Trump took the maiden flight on a newly retrofitted Boeing 747-800 presidential plane valued at $400 million and featuring a darker color scheme favored by Trump. The White House and the Obamas did not immediately comment. The doctored image was one of several altered photos Trump circulated Sunday, and the posts risk fueling fresh controversy ahead of his trip Monday to Turkey for a NATO summit.
