Argentina come from 2-0 down to beat Egypt, reach World Cup quarter-finals

Argentina overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat Egypt 3-2 in a Round of 16 match in Atlanta. Egypt took a shock lead through Yasser Ibrahim and Mostafa Zico and goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir saved Lionel Messi's first-half penalty. Cristian Romero began the comeback with a towering header in the 79th minute and Messi levelled five minutes later with a composed finish. Deep into stoppage time Enzo Fernández finished a swift counterattack to complete the turnaround and seal the victory. The win keeps Lionel Scaloni's Argentina in the tournament and sets up a quarter-final against the winner of Switzerland versus Colombia. Egypt's campaign ended in heartbreak after a spirited performance that pushed the defending champions to the limit.

🙄 VAR didn't give up three goals in 14 minutes. FIFA sucks, VAR sucks, but they ran out of gas and got outplayed, and I don't know how anyone can have watched that game and believe that adding another 30 minutes to that game would've changed which team won.

I'd have to agree with him. Egypt was robbed. Refs can set the bar high or low on fouls, but must be consistent. VAR was not consistent in this game. High bar for Egypt, Low bar for Argentina.

In general you turn on every match hoping to see something like Argentina-Egypt, and very rarely you get what you came for. This World Cup has had a handful of them already. Just told the 8-y.o. that his first World Cup is setting the bar really high.
